Mt. Rainier

The Bluest Skies You?ve Ever Seen are in Seattle (A song by Perry Como)

The Seattle area is one of the most special places in the world. It is where the sophistication of the city and the tranquility of nature meet. Blessed with a temperate climate, which never gets too hot or too cold, and enough rain to cleanse the air and keep everything green.

The Seattle/Eastside metro area has communities to fit every interest and lifestyle. From the urban chic of an in-city condo in Belltown to an equestrian estate in Woodinville, our area has it all.

Seattle has always been considered a "Boeing Company" town with facilities and plants all over the region. But Seattle has grown up and now boasts of a very diversified employment base. We are home to many employers:

· High Tech companies like: Microsoft, Nintendo, Real Networks, Adobe, T*Mobile and Amazon.

· Biotech companies like: Amgen, Cell Therapeutics, Rosetta, and the Fred Hutchenson Cancer Center.

· Manufacturing: PACCAR (Kenworth and Peterbuilt trucks), K2, and Physio Control.

. Financial: Frank Russel and Symetra Financial.

· Retail Headquarters: Nordstrom, Starbucks, REI, and Eddie Bauer.

Philanthropy: Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Paul G. Allen Foundation, Casey Family Foundation are only a few of them.

Everyone in Seattle is into one sport or another, having almost all the major professional and college sports represented. But most residents prefer to be hands-on.

Outdoor recreation is predominant in this area with mountains and water all around us. There is no limit to your year-round possibilities. Hiking, camping, skiing, sailing, kayaking, and water skiing all have many enthusiasts. These pursuits are less than an hour away, and many times only minutes away.

You can easily take exciting day trips from Seattle. The San Juan Islands are a couple of hours drive, where you can watch the Orcas play. Or you can take a Catamaran to Victoria Canada and enjoy the ole' English feel of High Tea at the Empress Hotel.

The Seattle/Eastside is a special place to live, work and play. There is a place to fit anyone?s wants and needs.

Real Estate Tips
First Time Buyers >Good Faith Estimates

Several years ago the U.S. Congress tried to protect consumers from a few unscrupulous lenders by requiring all lenders to calculate and disclose the annual percentage rate (APR) you pay on your mortgage loan. But most homebuyers will learn more by directing their attention to the Good Faith Estimate of Settlement Costs (GFE). Although Congress meant well, in practice the APR is not helpful and may be confusing.

If you are looking for a good way to understand your costs of borrowing and/or to compare one lender's costs to another, the GFE is your best bet. Get your lender(s) to provide a written GFE before you commit your mortgage business. When reviewing a GFE, keep in mind that the lender actually controls only a certain portion of the disclosed costs. Other parties typically control costs of appraisal, settlement, title insurance, recording fees and taxes, survey, and the "prepaid" expenses of homeowner's insurance, mortgage insurance, real estate taxes, etc. Review these origination fees, discount points, etc. and you will have the ability to understand the full costs of your proposed mortgage loan.
